Update or Renew Account

Accessing Online SPA from STEERS

If you need to change your personal account information, renew your account, or modify your program area access, you will make these changes in the Online SPA.

  1. Log into STEERS at https://www3.tceq.texas.gov/steers/ using your web browser.
  2. Press the My Account button in the navigation menu at the top of the STEERS Home page to enter the Online SPA.

Updating Account Information

If you only update the account information and do not change the program access information, there is no need to submit a signed SPA.
  1. Access the Online SPA as described above.
  2. Press the Edit Account button to display the form to edit your account.
  3. Make the desired changes to your information.
    • If you have had a legal name change or your name is spelled incorrectly in your account information, you must contact STEERS Staff to make the changes for you.
    • The application will verify that the email address is not already used by another account.
    • STEERS staff also verify that the email address is consistent with the account information.
  4. Press the Update Account button to save the changes, the Reset Form button to reset the form, or the Cancel button to return to the Account Information page without saving the changes.

Updating Account Security Questions

If you only update the account security questions and do not change the program access information, there is no need to submit a signed SPA.
  1. Access the Online SPA as described above.
  2. Press the Security Questions button to display the form to edit your questions.
  3. Make the desired changes to your information.
  4. Press the Go button to save the changes or the Cancel button to return to the Account Information page without saving the changes.

Renewing Account

STEERS accounts must be renewed every two years. When your account is due for renewal, a warning message will display on the STEERS Home page and you should receive at least two warning emails. If you do not renew your account by the expiration date, your account will be locked. If you do not renew your account within 30 days of the expiration date, your account will be deleted.
  1. Access the Online SPA as described above.
  2. Review your account information and program information to verify that the infomation has not changed. You should check that your authorization information for program area access is still correct.
  3. Make any changes necessary to make your account current. For more information on updating program information, see Add or Update Program Information
  4. Send the SPA to TCEQ STEERS:
    • Generate the SPA, print it, sign it and mail it to STEERS. For detailed instructions on generating the SPA, see Generate SPA. Skip step 1 and 2 since you are already in the Online SPA.
      OR
    • If you have a valid Class "C" Texas Drivers License (TDL), you may sign the SPA electronically. For detailed instructions, see Sign SPA Electronically. Skip step 1 and 2 since you are already in the Online SPA.

      Note: If the your TDL has been renewed or changed in the past 6 weeks, the TDL record may be locked and unavailable for electronic verification. In this case, you must submit a paper SPA.
